Beckie Farley is a Recruitment Partner in Astute’s Renewables team, supporting UK companies across Solar PV, Heat Pumps, BESS, and EV charging with the commercial, domestic, and industrial talent they need to grow.

How did you get into your role at Astute?

I hadn’t worked in recruitment before, but my background in CV writing, interview coaching, welfare to work, and supporting students into their first roles made it a natural fit.

I’ve always been the friend people come to for career advice, after being told so many times that I should do recruitment for a living, I decided to try it and I haven’t looked back.

What do you do for Astute?

I lead the Commercial, Domestic, and Industrial desk in the Renewables team.

I support companies across the UK with hiring plans covering Solar PV, Heat Pumps, BESS, and EV charging.

That includes roles with installers, wholesalers, distributors, and software companies, matching the right people to the right teams.

What is your favourite thing about working at Astute?

People, life would be very boring without them.

Meeting new people, listening to their challenges, and helping find the right solution is incredibly rewarding.

I care about the impact I make every day, that is what keeps me motivated.

What have you enjoyed most about your recent projects?

Renewable energy was completely new to me, and I’ve loved getting immersed in it.

The sector is evolving quickly and it is exciting to keep learning. Green energy is transforming how we live and work.

Technology and AI are advancing, but the human element will always be essential for building and growing great teams.

People are at the heart of progress, they are the key to repairing past damage and driving innovation for a more sustainable future.

What is the most exciting thing about your role?

I am not your typical recruiter charging a flat fee for minimal effort.

We take a consultative, productised approach, there is no one size fits all solution.

We tailor the process to each business’s needs. The most exciting part is changing the perception of recruitment, from a hassle or unnecessary cost to a valuable, flexible, and impactful service.

Many companies spend a lot hiring directly without the time to properly vet candidates, we take that weight off their shoulders and make the process seamless.

What advice would you give someone who is looking to join Astute?

If you are a people person who loves making a difference, go for it.

You will never feel alone here, there is always support around you.
