Astute’s EPC Power team is partnering with a leading EPC Contractor within the UK Power Industry to recruit a Site QA/QC Mechanical Engineer on a 12 months contract basis for their Open Cycle Gas Turbine projects based in Immingham.

The Site QA/QC Mechanical Engineer will come with a day rate from £380.00 to £400.00.
 

 
               
Key skills and responsibilities:

  • Maintain standards of safety and comply with Project’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System requirements.
  • Reports to Site Quality manager, liaise with construction team for quality issues.
  • Responsible for the execution (and improvement) of the Project Quality Plan in compliance with the requirements of the project, through the implementation of project’s specifications, procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and method statements (MSs).
  • Issues relevant Request for Inspection (RFI) to the Client and maintains a relevant register file for the progress of inspections.
  • Verifies that inspections are performed to the extent defined within the ITPs, by the appropriate staff, with the calibrated equipment, as required. – Checks all required inspection points and reports as specified within the ITPs and monitors records within Schedules.
  • Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, informs the Quality Control Supervisor for non-conformities.
  • • Inspect materials/ equipment during receipt, verify compliance with the requirements.
  • Monitor preservation of equipment during storage/handling and after installation
  • Checks Instrument / Machinery calibration certificates.
  • Controls equipment installation, alignment and levelling.
  • Inspect welding activities (before/during and after welding). Verify NDT inspections.
  • Verify installation according to P&ID and erection drawings.
  • Prepare hydrotest packs prior hydrotesting.
  • Performs functional checks and mechanical completion checks (including hydrostatic tests)
  • Verify installation of rotating equipment (pumps etc) acc. to the requirements
  • Verify erection and welding activities of tanks/vessels according to the requirements.
  • Formal engineering training and technical / NDE qualifications.
  • Previous experience of 5 to 7 years on mechanical & NDE inspection activities in Power Plants or O&G.
  • Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice, regulations / legislation (PED, PE(R)S) in general and in particular of ASME BPVC codes and BS-EN welding/NDT/piping standards.
  • Experienced with rotating equipment inspections.
  • Hazardous Area installation and equipment ATEX inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Familiar with MS Office Package (excel, outlook etc)
  • University Degree education level and/or Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP, or PCN BINDT, or ISO 9712 level 2 or 3) preferable.
