About the role:

Astute’s Renewables team is working exclusively with a leading renewable energy provider who have a commitment to professional development and sustainability. They are looking to recruit a Senior Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer, who will be responsible for the control & instrumentation aspects of various projects and proposals

The strategically important Senior C&I Engineer role comes with a salary of up to £70,000 depending on experience, 25 days holiday + BH, private healthcare and a pension.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Chief Engineer you will:

 

  • Be responsible for specification selection of systems integration, communications networks and process instrumentation.
  • Developing and owning the standards for systems and equipment.
  • Conduct detailed technical bid evaluations of quotations to assist in the choice of suppliers, place purchase orders and manage suppliers.
  • Ensure information is available to suppliers for their design to be completed in a timely, complete and cost-effective manner.
  • Check in detail the functional design specifications, network design, SCADA/HMI screens etc.
  • Responsible for providing controls and instrumentation documentation and design, this maybe internally generated or managing external provider.
  • Develop technical package and scope for installation works.
  • Provide C&I input into design activities by other disciplines, and to site staff for installation, commissioning and operation.
  • Assist with the preparation of programmes and budgets.
  • Report internally for control of C&I aspects against budget and programme, and on technical matters.
  • Conduct factory acceptance tests for PLC/SCADA software and miscellaneous plant.
  • Ensure that all the necessary C&I commissioning documentation is compiled
  • Travel within the UK and overseas to visit clients, sites and suppliers.
  • Other duties as required
 
 
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A Degree in a suitable related discipline or significant related work experience
 
 
Personal skills:
The Senior C&I Engineer role would suit someone who is:

 

  • Experience in successfully delivering similar projects
  • Full understanding of the design, installation and project management of process plant control systems (training will be given on our process plants).
  • Experienced in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Exceptional standards of spoken and written English.
  • Able to give presentations to senior managers and occasionally to clients.
  • Proven ability to manage costs and demonstrate commercial awareness.

 

 
 
Salary and benefits of the Senior C&I Engineer role:

  • £50,000 – £70,000 depending on experience
  • Private healthcare
  • 25 days holiday, plus Bank Holiday
