Astute’s Renewables team is partnered with a growing developer of solar and wind who are looking to recruit an HV Electrical Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Wadebridge, Cornwall.

The strategically important High Voltage Electrical Engineer role comes with a basic salary up to £50,000, with company equipment provided, pool vehicles for any travel use and more.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Senior HV Engineer you will:

 

  • Perform high and low voltage installation work as needed across all projects.
  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance tasks on all sites as required.
  • Design high and low voltage electrical systems, specify plant requirements, and collaborate with subcontracted designers for high voltage design.
  • Analyse site performance data to recommend and implement operational improvements.
  • Proactively identify, document, and resolve faults with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Develop designs and prepare detailed reports.
  • Regularly review and monitor all asset-managed renewable energy sites, including providing weekend coverage on a rotating schedule.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:
 

  • Demonstrable experience in high voltage installation, testing and maintenance.
  • Some level of project engineering, planning or management would be a strong advantage.
  • Experience in wind or solar farm installation projects or operations would be a strong advantage.
  • High Voltage Authorised Person and Switching certified.
  • City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualified in an electrical vocation such as installation, inspection and testing or engineering etc.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • A full UK driving licence is essential due to remote nature of the sites

Personal skills

The HV Electrical Engineer role would suit someone who is or has:
 

  • A strong attention to detail.
  • Strong adherence to health and safety as well as incident prevention.
  • Excellent planning, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible to travel UK wide.
