Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading provider of engineering services for industrial material handling systems to recruit a Project Manager to be based at either of their sites in Adlington or Sunderland with hybrid working.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Head of Projects you will:


  • Oversee the full project lifecycle and take responsibility for delivery within budget and according to key timeframes.
  • Support project proposals during bid and pre-contract stages.
  • Review all project and contractual documents upon assignment to ensure understanding and documentation of requirements.
  • Develop a Project Execution Plan according to the company procedures and client requirements.
  • Track project costs, assign budgets, approve spending, and escalate overspends before commitments.
  • Create and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and identify impacts or opportunities.
  • Manage project cashflow projections, report negative cashflow or risks to the business.
  • Coordinate and expedite all project activities to meet schedules, including engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, installation, commissioning, and handover.
Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:


  • HND or equivalent qualification in a technical or engineering discipline
  • A formal project management qualification, e.g Prince2
  • At least 3 years’ similar experience within a bulk material handling industry such as mining or a refinery would be ideal. Candidates with other related experience will also be considered.
Personal skills

The Project Manager role would suit someone who is:


  • Technically minded with an ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Had demonstratable experience with projects within a construction environment.
  • Able to communicate clearly and work alongside a multidisciplinary team.
