Astute is exclusively partnering with a leading engineering company committed to delivering innovative solutions in industrial automation, to recruit a Project Manager for its UK-wide operations based in Runcorn.
This strategically important Project Manager role comes with a salary of £55k – £70k, plus a car allowance, company pension contributions up to 12.5%, and private healthcare.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will:
- Manage the safe execution and delivery of multiple industrial automation projects, ensuring they are completed within agreed timelines, budgets, and to the highest standards of quality.
- Oversee project planning, risk management, and resource allocation, ensuring compliance with contract objectives and customer satisfaction.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, end-users, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, coordinating efforts to meet project goals.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, adjusting them as necessary to accommodate changing requirements and conditions.
- Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders, providing regular updates to senior management and clients on project progress.
- Monitor project performance, identifying potential risks, and implementing strategies to mitigate delays and budget overruns.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to support promotional activities and ensure project deliverables meet the company’s strategic goals.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of industry standards, including NEC 4 (preferably Options A, C, and E), PMBOK, PRINCE2, and CDM15.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A relevant engineering degree or demonstratable experience with automation projects.
- Proven experience managing projects within the Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Pharma, or Green Energy sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC 4 contracts, particularly Options A, C, and E.
- Familiarity with PMBOK or PRINCE2 methodologies and CDM15 regulations, especially in roles involving Principal Contractor and Principal Designer responsibilities.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6 and FastDraft, as well as Microsoft Office tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Advanced Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications in addition to their educational qualifications would be an advantage

Salary and benefits of the Project Manager role
