Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market leading energy provider with a commitment to professional development, to recruit a Mechanical Engineer who’s primary focus is working on Rotating Plant, for their Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station in Rochester, Kent.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Lead Mechanical Rotating Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for:

The management of the sites rotating equipment which includes the 2 GE 9FA Gas Turbines, D11 Steam Turbine and other rotating plant.
Leadership of the Rotating Plant team of technicians & engineers.
Delivery of the outage strategy and management of projects as well as enhancing the planned maintenance strategy
Ownership of the budget and contract management of key strategic suppliers
To ensure health, safety & environmental compliance, along with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
Assisting in continuous improvement such as plant developments, modifications, and projects
Supervising and setting to work on site contractors.
To ensure the availability of plant spares

Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:

A relevant technical qualification, ideally at HNC / HND / Degree level, in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline
Ideally have a relevant Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH

Personal skills:
The Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who has:

Prior experience working with mechanical systems including pumps, turbines, boilers, HRSG equipment, etc.
Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation (CCGT, EfW, Biomass), petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc.
Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
Excellent communication skills with proven ability of leading teams
Proven ability in leading a team of engineers & technicians
