Astute’s Nuclear team is exclusively partnering with a global leader in nuclear energy, to recruit a Head of Bids for its Southwest and Central locations.
This critical Head of Bids role plays a pivotal part in driving the success of the company’s business development by delivering high-quality, winning proposals that support long-term growth and strengthen client relationships. The role comes with a salary up to £80,000, car allowance, bonus and hybrid working.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Chief Sales Officer, you will:
 

• Provide oversight and management of the entire tendering and bids process from start to finish.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and value in bid and proposal delivery.
• Project manage bid responses in collaboration with UK and international stakeholders.
• Manage proposal review meetings and ensure alignment with company risk and governance policies.
• Liaise with customers to handle bid clarifications and technical queries.
• Work alongside finance, legal, and operations to develop commercial proposals that meet company and market requirements.
• Support the development of sales and account strategies and contribute to the business's commercial growth.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Familiarity with the full lifecycle of engineering projects—design, manufacturing, operations.
• Experience in managing bid and proposal teams and leading the development of winning bids.
• A solid understanding of contract forms such as FIDIC and NEC3/4, and the ability to apply commercial risk effectively.

• Proven project management experience, especially in infrastructure or energy sectors.
