Astute are working on behalf of our client who are one of the world’s largest leaders in the Environmental, Waste and Energy Recovery industries to recruit a General Manager for one of their highest performing plants.

The Energy from Waste site in Lincolnshire has a capacity to process 170,000 tonnes of waste per year, generating 13.1MW of power for the surrounding area.

We are looking for a highly accomplished General Manager to manage the day to day operations & maintenance activities including the management of ~40 staff.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the General Manager you will be responsible for:

Responsible for the safe & efficient operation of the plant ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and permits.
Lead a site team of ~40 staff including operators, engineers and support staff.
Plan for minimising and managing changes in legislation such as PPC, Emissions Monitoring and H&S issues.
Maximising plant availability and effectiveness to improve profitability.
Managing the stations budget in order to meet company objectives including achieving five year plan targets.
Ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of all staff, support staff and sub-contractors are ensured across the Energy from Waste facility.

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

An Engineering background and relevant qualification such as a Degree/HNC/ONC/HND
NEBOSH or IOSH or a strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation
At least five years management experience ideally with relevant management qualifications

Personal skills
The General Manager would suit someone with:

Experience in a similar industry such as Energy from Waste, Biomass, Power Generation, Petrochemical etc
Strong technical understanding of the EfW and Waste Management process to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve performance
Proven track record in delivering results against set KPI’s
Financial experience in management of budgets, P/L accounts, third party contracts
