Estimating Manager

Astute’s Renewables team is exclusively partnering with an ICP specialising in LV & HV design and implementations projects to recruit for an Estimating Manager for its Swindon site.

The Estimating Manager position comes with a salary up to £75,000, pension, flexible working with 1-2 days a week in the office (maybe less) and is critical to the continued growth of the estimation department, which is expected to double over the next 2 years!

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Head of Estimation you will:

• Lead the estimation team, managing workload distribution and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Enhance performance and cost-efficiency by monitoring KPIs, aligning with business objectives, and ensuring the team’s responsibilities are executed with high focus and process-driven results.
• Prepare basic and detailed tenders, COMA/maintenance contracts, and sales contracts, ensuring compliance with legal guidelines.
• Manage the approval process for quotes up to £200k and make decisions on whether to proceed with quoting.
• Identify knowledge gaps and create opportunities for professional and personal growth.
• Provide support through effective line management, including one-on-one meetings and appraisals, following our people-centred HR policies.
• Oversee internal team processes, such as the quotation process and data entry into business systems.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:
 

• Demonstrable experience in estimating for major infrastructure projects or grid connections
• Ideally electrically qualified to an NVQ, C&G or degree level
• Extensive market knowledge and experience within the electrical distribution sector, including both HV and LV.
• Tendering for O&M contracts and private networks.
• Establishing strategic and operational partnerships.
• Handling complex and sensitive business/commercial information confidentially, both internally and externally.
• Demonstrable understanding of PPAs
• Ability to use accountancy and analysis software and MS programs such as Excel
